Sweet Sunday and a quick Garden update

Today has been a beautiful and enjoyable day indeed here in our little backyard vegetable garden located in the southeastern part of zone 8b.  My sweet hubby was home today and ran by Stine’s to check on their vegetable plants.  He scores!march 2015 005He has been on a roll lately!!  He picked up a few bell pepper plants and a few cherry tomato plants.

This man wastes no time when it comes to gardening.  He quickly pots up the plants since we still have a few more weeks of cold weather headed our way.

While he was doing that I continued to clean out our turnip bed.  I have plans to plant our sugar snap peas there once the pea seeds have sprouted and are ready to be transplanted. Also I wanted to leave the soil bare in hopes of killing any flea beetles and slugs that might be overwintering in the soil during our last few weeks of freezing weather.

Once I was out of the way the hubby started with the fencing plan to support the sugar snap peas.  This will be our first year to try this new plan and location so we shall see how well it works out.

So many things going on in the garden but I am out of time, so I promise to be back soon with more pictures and updates.

Oh but wait, I all most forgot to give you an update on those darn sunflower seeds I planted 4 weeks ago!!!……

Finally!!! I had a few pop up.  It has just been too cold for them to grow.  I will be bringing them in for our work days and at night with plans to keep them out on the weekend days if it is a warm and sunny day.

Oh and here is my hubby’s collection of tomato plants!!  I will try to post more on them later.
